Feature: Vultures

For the past two months we have been doing these features to really hype the bands on this years “Summer Throwdown”. Today we announce our final band, and with that I’m pleased to introduce you to the band Vultures. These guys have a decently long run, now going on their 5th year of being a band. Over that course having a number of drummer/bassist changes, but still retaining their core members.

Through their time as a band they have release a full length album called, “Empty Sky/ Shallow Earth” and their EP “Lowlife”. Both of which you can check out on their website (linked below), Pandora/Spotify, and their full length through Frequency Deleted Records. In a live setting, the band has a pretty impressive career of shows. Having shared the stage with bands like Death Before Dishonor, Lion-heart, This is Hell, Misfits (yes the misfits), Hundredth, Counterparts, 100 Demons etc. Quite to my amusement, the band describes their sound as,

“th[e] way we sound we are like that ignorant uncle you have that always wants to wrestle and makes fun of you for being a pussy.” -Vultures

That’s the best way I’ve ever heard any band describe their music, ever. It’s definitely something that I want to see for myself sometime, and you should too!

Feature: Degrader

If you are any bit into the local metal scene, chances are you’ve heard of this next band playing “Summer Throwdown” in July. Degrader out of Rockland, Ma, have slowly but surely become one of the faces of the local scene. I’ll go on event pages, and just see countless posts telling the promoters to “put Degrader on this show.” The growing support for these guys is quite amazing. Pretty much everyone, their grandmother, and their 2nd cousin, who has to fly in internationally from Europe, is coming out for their EP release show June, 20th. (event details below)

Since forming in August of 2013, they have released two singles, “The Real” and “Reflections”, which you can check out below. Their self titled EP comes out June, 9th; pre-orders are now available They’ve also shared the stage with some awesome bands like Barrier, Gideon, The Plot in You, Desolated etc. In terms of their sound as a whole, the band describes it as,

“Whether it be metal, hardcore, or anything in between, if you enjoy any type of heavy music, you’ll enjoy what we have to offer.”-Degrader

They went further added,

“People come to see us live because we fucking kill it. Constant high energy throughout our set. We put on a PERFORMANCE.”

Given the support these guys have, it’s safe to say that people agree with that statement.
